Here's a quick chart to find out which type of nappy you might want to try first. Across the top you'll find the different types of nappy we've been looking at, and down the right hand side you'll find the different criteria against which each nappy type is scored.

We've given each nappy type a score out of 5 against each criteria – 5 is good, 1 is not so good. So a more expensive nappy will get 1 for COST, and a nappy that's quick to line dry will get 5 for LINE-DRYING. We've also given a total score for each nappy type, which you may find helpful if you can't think which criteria are your top ones.

Some nappy types cover a range of different brands, so we've used an average for the most popular brands, but each individual brand may differ slightly. For more information on choosing between different brands you can call the Northern Ireland Nappy Line on 02890 894576.

This is the total cost for all the nappies needed from birth to potty. A total of 24 nappies for those types which fit from birth to potty, and 42 nappies (24 Size 1 + 18 Size 2) for those types which need two sizes.
